#DDChat – Weekly Twitter Chat [Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia]
What is #DDChat?
For almost a year now, I have been hosting a chat on Twitter called #DDChat. It started off as a monthly thing and only discussing dyslexia, but over the months it has developed and become a weekly event where we discuss dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and dysgraphia. It’s a very friendly worldwide community of neurodiverse people, experts and support groups.
The chat is two hours long, but open to people coming and going in that time.
Our first hour is made up of topical questions regarding dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and dysgraphia. The bulk of topics are often suggested by users on Twitter, which I very much encourage! If no topics are suggested, I will look through Twitter hashtags and Facebook groups to find suitable topics to discuss.
The second hour is an open floor. This is time where people can catch up on the fast pace of the first hour or they can ask any pressing topics they may have. As we do have experts and groups that join in as well as other neurodiverse users, it means that we can discuss any hints or tips people may need with relation to dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia or dysgraphia.
When is it on?
The chat takes place on Twitter from 8-10pm UK time (GMT) every Thursday.
How can I get involved?
By heading onto Twitter and searching for the hashtag #DDChat. I encourage all those who take part to use the hashtag so that all those taking part in the chat can see who’s contributing what information, otherwise it becomes lost. The hashtag is used not only on a Thursday, but many familiar chatters use it through the week with any interesting articles or news they want to share.
If you want to contribute a topic for discussion, you need to do so by 6pm UK time on Thursday by contacting me on Twitter @DyslexiaAndMe. You don’t need to direct message me, you can just tag me with your topic and I can add it into our discussion if appropriate.
